Golf Cart & LSV Insurance in Florida
Florida is arguably the golf cart and LSV capital of the country. From The Villages to Peachtree-style cart communities along both coasts, thousands of residents use golf carts and low-speed vehicles for daily errands, beach trips, and neighborhood travel. Whether you drive a Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, Evolution, Bintelli, GEM, or Advanced EV, the kind of policy that may fit depends on whether your vehicle is an off-road cart or a street-titled LSV.

⚠️ Important: Florida Requires PIP on Street-Legal LSVs
In Florida, PIP (personal injury protection) is required with street low-speed vehicle insurance— a street-titled, license-plated LSV is treated like a motor vehicle under Florida's no-fault law. Because of that PIP requirement, many insurance companies simply will not quote street-legal LSVs in Florida. Don't give up: call 866-347-8683 to reach a call center that works with markets that may be able to quote Florida LSVs with the required PIP coverage.
Golf Carts vs LSVs Under Florida Law
Florida distinguishes between golf carts (generally limited to about 20 mph and operated on designated roads posted 30 mph or less, or where a community permits them) and low-speed vehicles (capable of 20–25 mph, titled and registered with a license plate). A street-legal LSV in Florida generally needs registration, a valid driver's license, and insurance that meets the state's requirements — including PIP and property damage liability.
If your cart stays inside a gated community or on the course, a specialty golf cart program may be the better fit. The intention of those programs is to address liability, theft, and physical damage without the auto-style filings a street LSV may require.
Popular Florida Golf Cart Communities
The Villages, Sun City Center, Naples, Sarasota, Port St. Lucie, Key West, Anna Maria Island, and dozens of coastal towns allow golf cart or LSV travel on selected streets. Local ordinances vary block by block — one reason a knowledgeable agent matters. Multi-policy discounts may also be available if you bundle a boat, motorcycle, jet ski, or other powersports quote at the same time.
